Jesus against hypocrisy: Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long. Matthew 23:5

Jesus, in his spiritual teachings, always warned about the problem of hypocrisy. And this is so because it is important to understand that hypocrisy is a strategy of behavior in front of others, a strategy that arises from a cold, selfish, and destructive calculation, because it implies appearing in a way that is not. What underlies hypocrisy is falsehood, the desire to look good to others. A hypocrite is, in essence, a person who destroys others and then does insignificant favors so that later they speak well of him.
And the Kingdom of God announced by Jesus is the opposite of falsehood and human destructiveness, or in other words, the opposite of hypocrisy. Entering the Kingdom of God is simply doing what is right because it is right, not because there is any gain in it, always following the example of the Lord Jesus. Those who practice hypocrisy cannot please God or be accepted by Jesus.
It is for all these reasons that, as the Gospel of Saint Matthew relates, Jesus condemned the Pharisees and Sadducees for living by appearances and not according to the divine law. And the Gospel of Saint Matthew, after relating the messianic entry into Jerusalem, explains that Jesus was in the city and there he explained to his disciples and listeners to beware of the Pharisees and Sadducees with these words: "Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called 'Rabbi' by others" Matthew 23:5-7. The hypocrisy of Jesus' enemies was then the antithesis and the most fierce opposition to God's plan, and what the Kingdom of appearances without content means.
The wisdom of Jesus transcended his time, and two thousand years after his life on earth, his spiritual teachings still have an impact in modern times, because the world, despite all the technological advances, has not managed to make the reign of mercy, the dominion of perseverance, and the government of righteousness prevail in modern society.
