The sun hangs high, yet its light feels cold and artificial, casting long, geometric shadows across the fork in the path. You stand at the junction where the paved road meets the dirt trail, but as you turn to look back, the way you came has vanished into a wall of impenetrable, shifting ivy. The air is deathly silent; no birds sing, and the leaves above remain perfectly still, even as you feel a frantic, invisible wind whipping against your skin.

You choose the dirt path, hoping the wooden fence will offer some sense of direction, but the further you walk, the more the trail stretches and warps. The fence posts begin to resemble jagged, sun-bleached bones, and the dense thicket to your left starts to breathe in a rhythmic, wet heave. Every time you glance at the white sign in the distance, it remains exactly the same distance away, its text blurring into a language you used to know but can no longer read.

Panic sets in as the paved path to your right begins to liquefy, turning into a river of grey sludge that swallows the surrounding greenery. You try to run, but your feet feel heavy, sinking into the dirt which has now become as soft as velvet. From the deep shadows of the overhanging canopy, hundreds of pale, unblinking eyes open all at once. You realize too late that this park isn't a place, but a mouth, and you are standing right on its tongue.
