I wonder

I wonder what they see.
Do they know they are fish?
That they are confined to a tank of water?

Do they have their friends? Their enemies?
Do they have their families?
Their own special place they call my home?

Do they feel heat and cold?
Do they feel hungry or thirsty?
Do they feel happy and safe?

Do they know they are for sale?
They are destined for status as a pet?
That they will be gawked at their entire life?

What kind of karma got them this predicament?
What will be their destination after this life is through?
Will they get a human body?

Did they have a human body?
Did they watch fish in their aquarium?
And then become a fish next life?

Kinda makes your head swim.
Doesn’t it?
