As the Crow Flies

On my daily walks
My wife fears
I'm being stalked,
But he's gentle
And keeps his space
Looks for me
And knows my face.
He lights on trees
And hydro poles,
Follows me to the woods,
Then all the way home.
It’s a game with him,
Something to do
And he's become fast friends
With my pup too,
Jays and cardinals
Visit my yard
Feeding in turns
Safe from harm,
But my peripatetic friend
Won't wait in queue
Choosing to fly
As part of my crew.
