Nicaragua Crisis Update July 13th 2018
Things have become much more dangerous in Nicaragua over the past week. Our phones are being monitored as well as Facebook, Youtube, Whatsapp and Twitter. It does not go well for people who are found with photos or videos of the atrocities that are happening here.
This past week there were two mass graves discovered behind a stadium. The death toll continues to rise. We are now over 400 unofficial deaths. I will not be directly posting photos or videos for my safety and that of my family. For now, I can give brief reports in writing because they are not looking at text written in English.
My family and I will be moving to another country but I can not divulge the plans again for our safety. We will find a way to get the word out through third parties in other countries.
We have not seen nor heard from one of our friends in Leon. On the weekend we had heard that the Antimontines were parked in front of his house and three juvenile boys were removed from the house directly in front. The boys were accused of helping at the blockades and were shot execution-style in front of their parents.
This has just come in from a reliable source. Sorry, no photos. The Sandinistas took over a University this afternoon and have hundreds of paid supporters marching from Managua to Masaya on the main highway. They have submitted fake videos to the OEA showing how it was the students burning people alive and murdering people in the streets. Then Ortega's representative said that Nicaragua would no agree to any demands. The final piece de resistance of the speech: they said Trump was financing the terrorism here!
The mortars are flying over my son's house in Managua. Some people at the airport were trying to leave. Don't know if they were part of the groups who came to monitor the situation here or not but all are foreigners and they are being held.
Who knows where this will end, but it won't be a happy ending for anyone.

Trump financing terrorism in Nicaragua ? Given the history of egregious US interventions in Nicaragua (over the last 100+ years), why does this seem unlikely ? Has everyone quickly forgotten the Contras, the "School of the Americas", and even their ongoing export of death squads.
Why does this reek of the same invention playbook being implemented in Nicaragua that we have seen Venezuela ? Destabilization, violent protests and economic sanctions.
What's next ? Will we see an another deployment of the "White Helmets" construct, just as we saw Venezuela ?
The escalation will continue along the lines exposed by John Perkins in "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" until Ortega is ousted or ended, and the US gets the compliant leadership for Nicaragua it desires.
There is no doubt that history is repeating its self and this conflict will go on for some time. Everything they try fails. Peace is no longer an option. That went out the window weeks ago.
The Sandanista National Liberation Front are socialists; which is what some people are pushing for here in the United States.. and they are doing what? And Ortega's political affiliation is Sandanista... go figure
Oh yes let's bring socialism to ALL countries.

Ortega has swung from Socialist to communist to a dictator in a few short years. Now we have genocide added to the recipe. We had close calls in Managua last night for my son and his family. But they are safe this morning as are we here in the compound...
People of his nature, thinking and political views are ruthless... sad that there are still people like him, his followers and representatives still being permitted to rule.
GLAD your son and family are safe again. I can't even imagine how you sleep, rest or can think with all this turmoil and death happening so close to your home.
I don't. It is constantly on my mind. We try for whatever can be considered normal under the circumstances but it is difficult.
There's a difference between dictators and socialism like in Scandinavia, for clarity!

They did and we lost communications for a while last night. I have been in contact with my son and they are safe this morning. We too in the compound are safe.

Not sure when that will be. The events of today have put a damper on any plan of leaving immediately. I did a post about it.
