I tried running with a block of ice to fight the heat
I mentioned in the past few days that I am not going to run in the intense heat anymore but it turns out that was a lie.
Someone suggested that I freeze a water bottle solid in the freezer and then carry it with me on my runs. Then, when it melts, to have an ice cold drink.
I didn't really think this was going to work and honestly, it went more bad than good, but it did keep me cool enough to pull off an hour of semi-running yesterday, but it isn't a process that I think I will repeat very often in the future.

This pace is nothing to get excited about and that is because my primary focus was not mama speed but merely to stay out there in mid-day and not give up for an hour. My pace and what not was not important to me and my only focus was to keep moving for an hour and see what happens.

To many, my BPM seems out of control but seriously, I am just used to it at this point. Perhaps I should go see a doc and get some tests done because my high heart rate doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. I get a minimum of 150 minutes of cardio a week and I kind of watch what I eat and also do weights, so it doesn't make a great deal of sense that cardio seems to still be quite taxing on my body. Perhaps it is from over a decade of doing almost zero cardio and focusing almost exclusively on lifting weights.

I wasn't really paying that close of attention to my pace at the start and it kind of makes me happy that without even trying to do it, the starting pace for 3km or so was around 7 minutes per kilometer. I am gradually striving to be sub 7 on runs of 5km or more and since it was painfully hot this day, I am happy that even though I wasn't striving for a fast pace, I "accidentally" did it anyway.
Now about the frozen ice I was carrying.
This turned out to be kind of a curse because although it was really hot, the water bottle was a biking squeeze bottle and the ice, while melted around the perimeter, it was still very solid in the cap and therefore I couldn't drink any of it. I will admit that it was nice to hold it next to my body when I would slow to a walk but the main purpose of carrying water with you on a run is to be able to drink it and I could not. If I had brute forced my way into the container I would have to break the mechanism that prevents the water from leaking out.
Therefore I can't really recommend that anyone use this method. After an hour in the brutal sun the ice was completely melted tough but for me anyway, the first 30 minutes or so were a situation were I couldn't have any water to drink.
So in the future I will not do this and I do not recommend anyone else try it either.
