One of the local fish was Taki fish, Rui fish. The collection of sea fish was large. There were some species of fish including Rupchanda, Laitta, Poa, Faisa. However, the most available fish in the market was shrimp. There are large, medium, small and pona shrimp in this market. Its price varies depending on the size of the shrimp.

Vegetables

Then I went to their fresh vegetable market where there was a large collection of vegetables. All the vegetables that are not always available in the market were also available in this market. I found banana mocha in the market after a long time. Also, beans, potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes, carrots, bitter gourd, kachu, gourd, sweet pumpkin, lemon, green chili, sweet potato and various vegetables.

Tell us why you chose that street or open market.

I chose Riazuddin Bazar because it is one of the most popular and oldest wholesale and retail markets in Chittagong. Here, one can easily get various products at low prices, especially spices, dried fish, clothes and daily necessities.
In addition, this market has a wide variety of products and there is an opportunity to bargain, which is not usually available in other supermarkets.

I bught some vegetables from this market . This shop does not give any bills/memos, only cash is accepted, so I cannot show any proof of purchase.

Describe your shopping experience, including pricing, bargaining, and product quality

Shopping at Riazuddin Bazaar is a completely different experience as you can bargain at almost every shop here. At first, the shopkeeper will quote a little high prices, but if you negotiate, you can get a good discount. Most of the products here are of good quality, but in some cases you have to check carefully before buying, especially in the case of dried fish. The shopkeepers are generally friendly and are willing to negotiate prices with the customers. Overall, shopping here feels like you are part of a traditional market culture.

In some places street or open markets usually cause traffic describe how busy the street or open market is

Riazuddin Bazaar is always very busy. There is a large crowd of people, especially in the morning and afternoon. There is always traffic jam on the surrounding roads. Movement becomes a bit difficult due to small vehicles, rickshaws and vans. This market becomes even more crowded especially during Eid or festivals.

What is your advice to the street or open market sellers to improve business performance?

Some suggestions for market traders—

  • Improve cleanliness.
  • Display product prices clearly (partially implement fixed price system)
  • Make digital payments (bKash, Nagad) easier.

Review:
"Riazuddin Bazar” sells a lot of items for cooking and such a business usually has huge sales because food is something most people cannot do without, and food items are the most popular items in the market. The reason why most shopkeepers quote a high price is so they can end up selling at the main price because they know customers will bargain for price.
