A little gold

Afternoon everyone…..

So we got up super early yesterday to go meet up with Brianrrr. Many of you may not know him but his is an OG of the Silvergoldstackers and has been at all three Las Vegas meet ups.

He lives just outside of Los Angeles, roughly fifteen miles from where we are currently staying in Pasadena.

We wanted to get an early start heading into the mountains on our search for some gold. From his house we drove roughly half an hour into the mountains. We parked, grabbed all the gear and backpacks and headed into the mountains.

It was nearly a two mile hike through some sort of paths, lots of not so much of a path, numerous inclines and declines of not so easy to climb, crossed the river several times. Then we got to a spot Brian thought would be good to try and pan for gold.

Brian is a well seasoned gold miner. He has all the equipment and knows how to use it all as well. He also has a sluice box which we put together on site and set up in the water for panning as well.

We dug and panned for several hours. We did find some gold. I found a nice little gold fleck panning, it was easily seen with the naked eye. It was the biggest piece that we found the entire day, but we did find two other flakes and a bunch of micro good panning.

After about nearly six hours of gold prospecting, we cleaned up the gear and started our climb out of the mountains. It was a very steamy 105 degrees when we were leaving. Which didn’t make it the easiest of climbs to make. We were all pretty water logged and sun beaten from the day.

It was such fun going out and prospecting for gold, especially meeting up with Brian to do so.
