I've meet many artists here and I agree that changing the approach of letting them choose the licence may work to get higher quality, but also let's be honest a $8 upvote is not so motivating to work in a piece for more than 2 hours; @slothicorn's VP needs to be taken more seriously and don't let it be below 80% and allow it to recharge to at least 96% before voting again.
Also I am thinking there is need of proof of work, to make sure it is not plagiarisim, I started asking people to make sure, but then i realized i could get enemies :s and flags x.x !... Proof of work would solve a half of the problem; an account like "slothie-police" could help too, to check and ask in posts in doubt to prevent mistakes before the vote.
Finally, a team to decide the % upvote would decrease taste subectivity.
I think that would encourage artists to join.
My gifs are pretty rad! I will be making my first post in slothicorn tomorrow. I just found out about it. I already have much of my art posted on my page now. From now on, all will be using #slothicorn.
You are very welcome! Ilove to make them myself, and am constantly astounded at the gifs created by others! There was someone on google+ who made tons of them and they were cool like yours! Everyone's minds work a little differently and that really comes through in gifs!

( I have been busy trying to work my way around Steemit to figure out how it all works! ) What the Slothicorn Project is exaclty about. It looks neat, but I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for so I have yet to delve in.
I love making motion graphics and gifs! If you are looking for anything along these lines I'd be happy to have a closer look at the project you are running! (I'll probably read up on it some in a bit anyway!)
Being new, obviously I am trying to manage my time efficiently so I can be a quality contributing member within the Steemit Community, and grow my own outreach so I can put out more involved materials. I make gifs just ecause I enjoy it, but if it can help me... and benefit another project at the same time it would enable me to spend more time on doing something I love doing! I'll keep my eye on your future posts to see what direction you are taking the project in. :) Have a great day/evening!
