TL;DR - I'would like to know your opinion related to this headline - whether you think we are the only life form in universe or not?

Everyone has the right to believe in what he or she would like to believe. We should respect this and stop trying to change people and their thoughts. Personally i really enjoying discussions about belief and essentially, if they are in a controversy but respectful dialog to gain new insights and to question myself in confidence of my own thoughts.

I'am not a m not a astrophysicist or scientist, my simple (perhaps childish?) thoughts on this topics are:

  • We are living on our planet earth,
  • that is part of our solar system,
  • in our Milky Way galaxy,
  • in a universe with multiple of these galaxies.

It's scientifically proven, that the universe is expanding in space and time from one originating point. Because the universe has no fixed, but expanding size, it's often declared as infinite. Because the infinite size, i would also assume that the probability of other life forms equals infinity.

What is your opinion on this question? I don't want to ask you about your belief in UFO's, alien sightings and those stuff... It's more about the general question: Do think it's possible, that we are not alone in the universe and perhaps there are other forms of life questioning themselves such questions?

🤙Let me know your thoughts.

Sort:

We are still finding new life here on Earth. We are still finding life in areas we thought life couldn't exist on Earth. We are still finding life that we thought was extinct on Earth. So to deny the possibility of life (as defined on Earth) any where else in the Universe is folly.

i shall be go to the outside of earth

This is a very interestinfg question - which made me realize that I have not really formed any opinion about other possible existing life forms in this vast universe. But, the comments here made me realize that indeed, the universe is just too big for us.

Oh no, we are definitely not alone. Either intelligent life is like us and doesn't have the resources for space travel OR they just have no interest in pursuing us. Either way, we are not alone.

I feel that we are not alone in the "multiverse", in fact, I believe Rick and Morty's adventures are closest thing to reality.

I think that the universe is jut too big for us!!
I mean, if here in the Earth life could develop with some hard conditions as scientist tell us, why cannot another kind of life also develop in another conditions in another planets?
I find it also a super interesting topic :)

I'm sure we are not alone in this universe. I mean the universe is sooo big, so many solar systems, so many planets, somewhere must be a different kind of live

In my opinion, it would be selfish to think we are alone in such a vast landscape. Although any source of life may be beyond our ability to compreehend it.

Quoting Arthur C. Clarke:

"Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying."

I find the latter scenario to be more terrifying. It's like being the last man on Earth only the ratio of one human to Earth is much, much smaller than the ratio of one Earth to the universe. Statistically speaking it's basically a lock that we are not alone. It's also incredibly unlikely we will encounter what we would consider "intelligent life" for many, many years (if ever). There's just too much space out there in space.

Thank you - excellent Quote @napkinman... Yeah the word 'selfish' describes it perfectly in my opinion 🙏

Good question, which has been discussed over the ages! Think about early life, 10,000 or 20,000 years ago. Probably cavemen, who lived in small groups and were restricted to a very small geographic area, were asking themselves this same question: is there another 'group' out there? I think our answer is that definitely there is more life beyond Earth, and probably very far advanced technologically as well.

I can't believe that in all that space, we could be the only "experiment"!

There is no way we are alone in this massive universe!

Recently, there was this interstellar object (oumuamua ) flying through in our solar system some articles were hyping up the story claiming it was an alien spaceship i remember being so excited because i thought we may have found other living life form ,but too bad it was something else. NASA is set to launch James Webb telescope ,hopefully it will reveal something.
