POLL: Is Steemit what you imagined it would be?
I started on Steemit because people asked me to, and in those early years I did indeed write from bed, and I still often do.
Many of us have been asked to join this platform, and here we are. We’re having a look around and trying to understand how it works. We see huge sums listed under posts, and hear wild stories about how you can build houses and travel the world with what you earn on Steem.
Steem is currently worth next to nothing, and the dollar amount shown beneath the posts isn’t in US dollars but in SBI (Steem Basic Dollars, which haven’t been worth 1 US dollar for a long time).
Anyone who’s been on Steemit for a while will have noticed a certain pattern where it’s not the best writers who are rewarded; instead, the reward system seems to work differently, regardless of how many characters are posted.
Why did you come here? What were you told, and most importantly of all: have your dreams (the promises made) come true through participating on this platform?

A friend of mine introduced me to Steemit. ‘Post and earn crypto coins’, he said.
Bitcoin was the new kid in town at the time. I was struggling to understand what is crypto currency. My friend who was a little ahead of me in tech matters told me crypto could be the next big thing. He said if I don’t want to invest money in it, I could post on the Steemit platform and earn crypto coins.
That sounds like a good idea. So I signed up on Steemit, without really understanding the mechanics behind how things work on Steemit. I posted quotes from my collection because I wasn’t confident enough to write. Slowly, I build confidence to write. By then, I think I have been ‘black listed’ because my posts are of ‘poor quality’.
Anyway, along the way, I learned how Steemit works. The platform is not perfect. The rewards are disappointing and not really worth the time invested. I stayed because I have the time. And personally, Steemit gives me a platform to practice my writing. Whatever I get from my posts is a bonus. And here, I still am!
The steemit platform has been around for quite a few years. As with anything, after a while, things tend to die off if there is no injection of new blood, ideas and plans. I feel that Steemit is losing steam. However, if it is any consolation, all other media platforms suffer the same fate. Steemit is not the only one in this predicament.

I believe you indeed grew if it comes to writing and commenting, at least that is what I noticed.
Since 2024 a lot changed if it comes to posts. No longer those long epistels no one reads and lack of creativity, besides of AI copy-pasting text from others, wikihow and later AI at work.
A bit of creativity and more fun will do this platform good. Many who drained this platform left, but it also is the question for how long, and why (due to lack of electricity, WiFi, war or?).
Of course, a part of me is disappointed looking back but at the same time I am still here. I like to write, do meet different people and yes, I did earn way better at other platforms and could easily have access to these currencies unlike Steem.
If it comes to losing Steam it is up to us. You cannot receive if you never give. Interaction, making yourself visible is a must. This platform isn't different from real life thanks for sharing your experience.
It is good to have people like you here sharing daily quotes.
May I ask what made you collecting them? Did you write any yourself?

I started collecting quotes during my primary school days. One day, once upon a time, my form teacher wrote something on the board. He said that was a proverb. He explained what a proverb is, and the meaning of the proverb. I can’t remember which proverb it was. I wish I did. Anyway, I was impressed that a simple sentence could contain so much meaning. It also sounded beautiful and poetic. From then on, I was hooked on proverbs.
I found them mostly in ‘Readers Digest’ the ‘magazine’. And whenever I came across one, I would put pen to paper and take a note of it. Later on, my collection extended to ‘Food for Thought’, hunour and anything I found meaningful and interesting.
I was not academically inclined – still am not. I was poor in my studies, and I didn’t do well in school. But I love to read. Through reading and through the life lessons from proverbs, I learned about life and I dare say, it has shaped me into who I am today.
Of course, now you find quotes all over the internet. I think that is proof that proverbs have a place in the scheme of things. You will learn and benefit from them if you take an interest in them and can learn from them.

I always loved expressions and idioms. Before I joined Steemit I wrote stories byainly using them and adding new or double meaning to them. Everything comes with a different meaning. You proved that we all learn in different ways and most important is to find what triggers us to learn from.
I also liked "Reader's Digest".
I love food for thought and truly hope it will find it's place among the present Steemians.
Some positivity and eye-openers wouldn't harm.

Sebenarnya saya sangat senang berada di platform steemit ini, aku bisa memiliki banyak teman dari berbagai negara, melihat keunikan budaya yang di tampilkan oleh masing-masing peserta, namun terkadang saya kecewa melihat hasil yang diperoleh, mungkin bagi mereka yang sudah tenar akan mendapatkan hasil luar biasa dan saya sependapat dengan @lupega, baru beberapa menit di posting tapi sudah tinggi nilainya, tapi bagi sebagian orang terkadang sudah beberapa hari masih kosong melompong.
Aku juga kecewa dengan harga steem saat ini, nilainya jauh anjlok terus menerus, beberapa waktu yang lalu aku menjual dengan harga yang sangat murah, mungkin kalau aku jual saat ini pasti sangat sedikit sekali, aku berjuang selama dua tahun tanpa berhenti menulis dan sekarang aku juga mengalami sakit mata dan harus mengurangi dalam menulis. Waktu itu aku sangat membutuhkan uang jadi hanya itu yang bisa membantu ku. Semoga saja kedepannya nanti akan kembali naik harga steemmya.
Tapi saya tetap berusaha bertahan dan jika keadaan membaik saya terus menulis, karena disinilah saya benar-benar bebas mengeluarkan isi pikiran saya dan dituangkan dalam bentuk tulisan, walaupun tidak seperti orang-orang tapi menghasilkan sedikit jauh lebih berharga setidaknya aku sudah berusaha soal hasil biarlah Tuhan yang tentukan segalanya.

Hi, I recently joined Steem, but I don't have much experience like those who have been here for a while. However, I must say that it is not what I expected, but fingers crossed.
I thought it would be an easy way to make money as long as I write. I write primarily for fun, so I thought it would be something that would flow smoothly without any issues. And I would have made my first $20 on Steem in two weeks. But here I am still struggling to earn on STEEMIT.
At first, when I didn't earn on some of my posts, I felt like I couldn't write well or my post was not interesting or engaging. But along the line, I discovered that it's not always the type of posts you make. It's about the algorithm, and you will earn if you are lucky. This makes me discouraged, and I'm struggling with the zeal to keep writing and sharing posts.
I joined Steem to make money, support my dreams, and live comfortably with earnings from Steemit, but I haven't been able to achieve that yet. I know good things take time, but the delays are discouraging, and the joy you created in your head that you will get from here might actually die.0.00 SBD,

The reason for my answer : I like belonging to a community; in fact, I think it's preferable to going around , but what I DON'T like is seeing some monopolies. Well, it's something that exists and will always exist. Seeing a user make a post, and within seconds it has incredible value—I mean, there's no time to read it and it already has a great value, hahaha—what I think when I see this is, "Wow, these users read really fast, hahaha."

Same counts for most curators they read one word of what you wrote and as see leaving a comment is also not in it.
If it comes to upvotes I also support some Steemians I know write well, do not use AO or commit plagiarism. I vote them before I read. Why? To give them my support. If that is not what you like I can pull back my votes for you any time.
