In recent years, there has been a great deal of discussion about writing good content. All sorts of things have been tried to encourage Steemians. There were many competitions; the ‘daily diary’ was an initiative designed to help people learn to write and to provide guidance to those who didn’t know what to write.
Now, two years on, almost all the rules have disappeared. Texts of at least 500 words are no longer required.

The number of good writers has fallen dramatically, and the same applies to readers; as for those willing to give others an upvote, I’d better keep quiet on that matter.

Many communities are now inactive, or have become little more than a gathering place for posting reports, summaries and standard diary entries. Club status, frequent participation, originality, and making the effort to be discovered and read are all a thing of the past.
Certainly, those who always receive a high upvote from upvote bots or Steem Curators will make no effort to raise the profile of this platform with original and creative content, let alone good comments.

Steemit is now being inundated with reports. Although, the number of Steem Curator accounts has increased. It is striking that many users never receive an upvote and that the votes are almost always given by the same curators to their own followers.

The question is: Who deserves an upvote from a Steem Curator, and why?
