The main attraction of my blog today is 'Meena Bazar' located in the Garibe Newaz Avenue (Main Road) area of ​​Uttara Sector 11. The outlet located in this busy populated area has now become a reliable and trusted address for daily shopping for local residents. Meena Bazar, one of the pioneers of the retail market in Bangladesh, started its journey in 2002. It is a proud subsidiary of Gemcon Group, one of the leading business organizations in the country. Currently, they have more than 40 outlets in Dhaka and Chittagong, which have been serving customers for more than two decades.

The importance of the North branch is immense as it is located inside a residential area and next to the main road. The very clean environment here and the assurance of quality products draw customers here again and again. Despite having many options in the Uttara area, I chose 'Meena Bazar' for my regular shopping mainly because of its excellent location and quality of service. Firstly, this supermarket is very close to my house and is on the main road of Uttara Sector 11, so it is very convenient for me to travel here. Here, I get all the daily necessities starting from fish, meat and fresh vegetables under one roof, which saves my valuable time and effort. Especially, the freshness and quality of the fish and vegetables here always impresses me. Apart from that, the prices of the products at Meena Bazar are cheap and affordable, and there are often various attractive offers and discounts here, which help you buy the best products within your budget. The very clean environment and well-arranged shelves here make the shopping experience easy and comfortable. This store is my first choice mainly because of the quality products, affordable prices, and excellent service at hand.

As I was wandering around the store, I noticed their edible oil section. It has a huge selection of oils from various well-known domestic and foreign brands. Apart from the usual soybean oil, premium products like olive oil, sunflower oil and rice bran oil are beautifully arranged for the health-conscious shoppers. From small bottles to large cans, everything is neatly arranged in separate saris, making it easy for anyone to find their favorite brand. This excellent orderliness and clean environment make the shopping experience more enjoyable.

The shelves are lined with Dairy Milk, KitKat, Snickers and various types of candies and bubblegum, which makes you feel good. Along with chocolate, gift packs are also available here based on various festivals. This is the best place to find the favorite chocolate or treat, especially for children.

On today's visit, I purchased potatoes from this shop for my daily cooking needs. I purchased 1.60 kg of Potato White Bulk Regular, which cost Tk 23.00 per kg. The total bill came to Tk 36.80. I gave the cashier a Tk 100 note and he gave me back Tk 63.20. I always find it convenient to shop here due to the correct pricing of the products in the current market and the transparent billing system. The shopping experience at Meena Bazaar is always very comfortable. There are various promotional offers on almost every product here, which ensures shopping at affordable prices compared to the general market. There are all the modern facilities here for paying the bill after shopping. Nowadays, payment can be made through any means here be it cash, debit or credit card, or mobile banking like bKash and Nagad. Shopping here always seems to be time-saving for me due to the clean environment, the sincerity of the staff, and the fast billing system.

✅What do you think the supermarket or mini market needs to do to expand and tell us if the business is lagging in patronage.

Although Meena Bazaar is quite popular in busy areas like Uttara Sector 11, they can take some steps to grow their business. Firstly, if the aisle space inside the store is widened, customers can move around comfortably during rush hours. Secondly, a separate corner for local and organic products can be kept for health-conscious shoppers. Finally, if there is a facility to consume instant juices or snacks, the shopping experience of customers will be more modern and enjoyable. And the entrance should be kept a little free as I see a trolley of goods at the entrance.

According to my observation, due to its strategic location, the customer flow at this outlet is always promising. Being next to the main road and in a residential area, it is quite crowded especially during holidays and after office hours. Their diverse payment systems and fast online delivery facility are helping to retain customers. However, I think that if they continue to offer regular 'flash sales' or weekend deals to survive in the current competitive market, customer traffic and sales will increase manifold.

I think a supermarket or mini market definitely deserves to be more popular than a local general store. From my personal experience, I have seen that the kind of modern amenities that supermarkets provide to the customers are impossible to find in local small stores. Firstly, supermarkets provide a 'one-stop shopping' experience, where everything from fish and meat to electronics or cosmetics are available under one roof. This saves both time and labor. Secondly, transparency; here, the expiry date and fixed price are written on each product, which often creates a hassle for bargaining in general stores.
​Also, in my experience, I have seen that supermarkets are much more conscious about hygiene and cleanliness. Shopping in an air-conditioned environment is not only comfortable, but it also helps in maintaining the quality of the products. Modern payment systems and regular discount offers also benefit the customers financially. Although we have a spiritual connection with local shops, considering the pace of modern life and the assurance of quality products, I personally think that a well-organized supermarket or mini market should be at the top of popularity.
