Assalamu Alaikum friends. Today I am here to participate in a wonderful Steemit challenge competition organized by @josepha. The Topic of this challenge is SLC33-W3: My Community, My Story – Transportation in My Area. So let's get started.

What is the common means of transportation in your community? Tell us, including the location of the transportation

We who live in the city use various public transport as a means of transportation. However, our most convenient public transport is the metro rail. The most traffic jams occur in public transport in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Therefore, this metro rail project was an important step to deal with traffic jams.

This metro rail project has been created for the benefit of everyone so that the people of the city can reach their respective workplaces very quickly. Today I visited the Bangladesh Secretariat Metro Rail Station. I went here for a personal need of mine. For this reason, I used this metro rail service. Outside the station, you will see a huge signboard and an over bridge through which you have to enter the station.

Which mode of transportation system do you use more often in your community and why?

I live in a village but when I live in a city I use this metro rail service because it seems most convenient to me. It takes a lot of time to travel from one end of the city to another by bus and sometimes I feel very bad in the jam and get dehydrated. That is why I think this metro rail is the most convenient transportation system.

To go here, you have to go to the metro rail station from any place in Dhaka. To enter inside, you can see a huge staircase through which you enter. There is an escalator inside. After entering inside, there is a ticket counter from where tickets are purchased and rapid passes are collected.

How affordable, safe, and convenient is the transportation system in your community?

Metrorail is one of the biggest projects in Bangladesh. For this reason, the government has fixed the fare for traveling here. For the convenience of people, it costs 20 taka or 4 Steem approx. to go from each station to the next station. In this way, the fare will be charged gradually for each station. There is a huge ticket counter there and people buy tickets according to the serial.

It is a very good thing that everyone maintains the serial to buy tickets. There is a notice board on one side of the station where the names of different stations and other rules and regulations are written. I think the metrorail is very safe because you can go from one end of the city to the other in a short time. Also, since there is AC inside the metrorail, everyone does not feel tired.

Tell us the challenges that you and other commuters face with the transportation system and the improvements you would like to see.

Since the metro rail project is under the government. So people do not face much problem here. But sometimes there is a queue of people to get on the elevator and sometimes the elevator is closed. Because of this, many people face problems. Especially in the morning when there is office time, the demand of people is very high.

That is why there is a crowd. Instead of using the escalator, many people use the elevator. Then the elevator gets overloaded with the excess crowd. Besides, there is a good food system inside. There is a staircase to go up which is always kept clean. But sometimes when there is an excess crowd of people, you have to be careful while going up these stairs, if you are not careful, many people fall.

What advice would you give to a visitor who is about to use the local transportation system in your community for the first time?

There are many facilities inside the station that all the passengers coming here can avail. Those who will travel on this metro rail for the first time should take some advice. Especially, they should take cash while buying the ticket. There are huge fans inside for heating and there is a dustbin where you can throw your garbage in the dustbin.

Then when you go up, you will see two platforms. One in one direction and the other in the opposite direction. You have to enter any platform according to your destination. The platform number is written there and you can see the metro rail inside the station. There are different directions there and there is also a time schedule above.

You will stand on one side until the metrorail enters the platform. When the metrorail comes near you, you will enter through the middle and the passengers inside the metro rail will exit from both sides of you. This is the rule. Inside the train, you will sit on a specific seat.

If you do not get a seat, you will see a rubber belt as a safety belt above which you will stand. You must turn towards the door, otherwise you may fall if the brakes are applied at any time. You have to follow all these rules and regulations.

Review:
Railway transportation is perfect for long journeys, and it is usually the best for family travel, as the railway line in your community looks very clean and intact. However, your post would have been better if a train were shown. It seems the railway is more economical in your city, as I can see the crowd of people at the railway station.

Your detailed experience on Dhaka Secretariat Station and Metrorail travel is very well captured. Honestly, your writing is very clear about how much relief the Metrorail has brought to our daily commute amidst the heavy traffic jams of Dhaka. You have highlighted the difference between village life and this fast-paced communication in the city very well. What you said about maintaining discipline in the queue for ticketing, the facilities of AC inside the train and the overall management of the station is very useful. In my opinion, the excessive pressure on the elevators and escalators during office holidays or busy times is a big problem. The advice you gave to be careful about the risk of accidents while rushing to get up and down at times should really be followed. It was very useful to remind new passengers to carry cash or to get on and off from both sides while boarding the train. I often travel by Metrorail. Best wishes to you in this contest. 😊
