We did a test 39 days ago to see if the price of steem coming down was good Steem Coming Down Is Good (lets do an experiment to see) - Easy Experiment

In that post I asked for a snapshot of your steemd stats:

#1 Tell us how many SP you have right now

#2 Tell us how long you have been on the platform

Now we look at the results!

Please re-answer the 2 questions above!

Just getting back to this post.... New totals are:
144 SP on day 122
So that is 71 SP in 43 days which is around 1.65 SP a day. :)

That is very good... and your growth rate has definitely picked up! Good job @royaleagle!

you received an up vote from danlupi with voting power of 83.91%. Estimated dollar amount of $5.4

I have seen a big difference with the price of steem coming down, and then going back up... This account has really rocked with the move up... Yes we picked up some SP when it was lower, but we really picked up even more as it went higher! That's great as this is a membership service and it will help our members with leasing more steem power as we get bigger again!

The force is with you! You got a 16.67% upvote from @steemyoda courtesy of @unleashpower!

You got a 33.33% upvote from @payforplay! Please consider delegating steem power to @payforplay. We are currently sharing 100% of our profits with our delegators. That's correct, 100%! It doesn't get better than that. It is essentially running your own bid bot without doing any of the work. Steem power can be delegated here: https://steembottracker.com/delegation.html

So I've been here 134 days and have 169 SP; before 95 days/97 SP.

Regardless of what the numbers say, and regardless of any extenuating circumstances like getting curied, I cannot believe it's only been 134 days...it feels like a lifetime...in a good way, not like in my first marriage way haha

And as an aside, I came to this post to find I'd already upvoted you, but I don't have you as a fan on steemauto so is it because of friendsofgondor? I've noticed it before but keep forgetting to ask. And if that's the case, I need to unvote and revote to give you the deserved voting percentage buddy :)

It wouldn't be friendsofgondor because that account only upvotes stewardsofgondor... My guess is it was helpie's trail or maybe qurator...

For your numbers they have grown:

from roughly 1 SP per day
to 72 SP in 39 days which is a rate of almost 2 per day... Your growth rate almost doubled.

And yes it does seem both long and short in time... sometimes it seems like I'm a newbie and other times I feel really old... The good thing is we are almost the same age so it doesn't matter to us! ;)

haha it's exactly like real life ! Some days I feel like a newbie and others, really old :)

We are almost the same age, so it doesn't make any difference at all!

lol... yes in both steemit life and in real life, we are almost the same! Maybe that's why "great minds think alike".

I agree that it feels like it has been a lot longer. 6 months ago I didn't know what a Steemit was and know I'm almost to minnow level. It's crazy. Too bad it's not as simple as posting my account for sale to get $1,700. That would be really cool... although I wouldn't have the account anymore, so that would be a downside.

It is crazy. Four and a half months ago, I'd never heard of steemit and the idea of cryptocurrency was a grey area in my peripheral vision! There's something that says to 'become a habit', you have to do something for a month or six weeks I think, so when you 'do' something like steemit every day for 4-6 months, it really does become a part of you. Although I really do believe it's the relationships that keep us here. The guy who introduced Brian and I to steemit was really in it for the money (quick rich scheme...the big dummy;) and he hasn't been on for a few months now. Your $1,700 would be gone long before these relationships are ;) It also makes me wonder, if I started another account now, knowing what I know, would it be any different? could you duplicate this journey? I don't think so. Maybe I'd meet other people?

Just rambling now, but as I typed this, I really began to imagine re-doing it all. I won't. But I wondered what it would be like. I know that @simplymike did and funny enough, I found notes from when I first started on here, with names of people who I wanted to re-visit their posts regularly, and she was one of them, but it was her old name @mike-with-a-crazy-long-number after it. So it goes to show you that her authentic self came through with both names...even though I thought she was a guy for a long time haha

although I wouldn't have the account anymore, so that would be a downside.

...and you'd have to come up with another name ;)

I agree, it's the people that keep me here. I like the friendships I've made here, so it's fun to check in and see how people are doing. That's strange that the person who referred you was gone so quickly. I never even found out how you get referred. Yes, the money would be spent quickly. It seems that's the way of things, especially since I'm working on my silver collection. That would be 85 ounces of sweet silvery goodness before you could say, "boo!"

You could probably duplicate it to a certain extent. Especially if you knew where to start. I think part of the reason people see success is that they form friendships with people and then mutually upvote each other and see those votes grow. That's how it's supposed to work. I think if you could do well to have a cryptocurrency tied to a platform like this, but the only way to get the currency would be by being on the platform, at least for a few years. That way the people there are ones who really want to see it grow. I don't really like upvoting people who are taking the money and running. It feels better to upvote someone who is investing that value back into the platform and helping others grow. Then you could release it after 3 years and see what happened. The incipient demand might cause the price to skyrocket... provided there was enough usage of the coin and platform.

I would have to come up with another non-name if I started a new account. Ha!

As a big fan of experiments, I'm sad I missed this! Looking forward to the responses from the folks listed above and thanks to @davemccoy for running this!

Don't worry, I will be doing it again in about a week... Keep a lookout for it! ;)

Good copy! I'm likely to be traveling, but will look for it!

When did this happen? I'm so sorry I'm not part of the experiment.

It was 39 days ago @melvadg... But don't worry, we will be doing another one in a week... Keep your eyes open! ;)

I'm sure I'll be looking forward to the new round. Happy day.

I still have a little SP on this platform.
but I promise myself to keep making interesting posts to survive here.
I hope someday anyone can help solve my SP problem

what is your SP problem @munirahayati? I will be glad to help you if I can. Let me know what you mean by that statement and I will find you a solution ;)

I did not enter the first part of this contest.
My wallet stands right now at:
2 Steem (donation)
61.654 Steem power (-10 delegated to another)
and 16.852 SBD,
The past month has been my biggest organic growth since I have entered the Steemit platform, I have also reached a level where a reward from my vote is now over the 0.01 milestone, That in itself shows possibilities for growth, There have been many positive influences which have contributed to this growth, The key influence on this growth I would put down to communication, Talking with others in both the Discord groups and commenting on the platform to others posts. (A comment does not equal, "hi I like your post" "I agree with you"), Showing you have read the post and commenting on different parts of the post and showing a conclusion you have about the post, Will gain a more favourable reward. One other thing I have started to do, Which maybe many of us plankton should do, Is I do not vote on the comments in my posts any more, In an effort to reward those who do comment, I have now began to find a post they have done, and I will vote my penny on their post to ensure they gain something from the vote I return,

That is a very good idea at the end @jan23com... And I'm glad you put the numbers down and we will do another experiment in a week ;)... Also you have already figured out my point, that the last month when prices went down, we actually grew the fastest pace. So in reality, low price = faster growth. That's my premise! ;)

I am unsure as to the value of the coin being reflective of the growth in Steemit, I was more placing that growth with my expansion of interactions. Showing appreciation for the efforts of others, Some of my chat in the discord groups, to let my name be seen. There might be no wrong way or right way, But an adaption of various methods to suit the individual to grow. I remember saying to you when I had first met, that you are one who I will be following, Where I am now is the reasoning behind that thought way back then. I still find the posts you place up rewarding and inviting to new users, I will be continuing to follow you for more useful insights.

Thank you for those nice words @jan23com! And I agree with you the #1 determinant of growth will be what effort you put into it... The more effort = the more reward... I am talking about how the amount of steem you earn accumulates faster at a lower steem price. But you are completely right that in order to earn, you have to put in effort! And you are doing good, in my opinion.. I like to see your development!

I wasn't aware of this experiment either @davemccoy one of the many things that has slipped past my notice recently. Anyway, your analysis indicates that steem coming down generated more SP for you. You've realized in 39 days, almost twice the amount that you amassed in 94 days. I think that is simply fascinating!

That is exactly the point @ossyjay! The price drop had a very important multiplying effect as we have discussed before. I'm trying to teach people so that they understand, lower prices are good for the newbies and minnows. If you keep your eyes open, I will be doing this again in about a week. I think it helps to also set goals too! (something I know you are aware of!) ;)

I am forever hoping that steem stays down for the time being to enable me amass a significant amount of SP in order to increase my vote value. I will make sure that i do not miss out on the next one. Speaking of goals, I'll be dropping a post of the goalsetter progress report pretty soon. I'll do my best to make sure you are the first to see it.

awesome @ossyjay! I'm so glad you get it! :)

One day we will look back and see what a great opportunity we had and how it was cool we were able to be involved early!

Congratulations on your progress @davemccoy! Interesting experiment, thanks for sharing!
/FF

Thank you @friendly-fenix... I did the experiment because the premise that we grow at a faster rate with steem prices lower. My account is only one account of the group, but I do believe that the others will experience the same thing (if they were on about as much and stayed consistent)

Cool, I am guessing people did some STEEM shopping during the sale?
=)

Yes I know quite a few in fact.... They were smart... They picked up some decent prices too
