Sometimes I just feel that allowing people to be the way they are is the best way for us to avoid having issues or buying a market that we're not supposed to buy. Had it been I left my younger brother's shoe along the way he wouldn't have been angry for damaging his shoe, but because I wore it is the reason he then accused me of spoiling his shoe.

One early morning after a heavy rainfall, my mom sent me to the market to buy foodstuffs I chose not to wear my own shoes because I didn't come home for the holidays with my simple wears but with my high heels shoe which wouldn't be right for me to wear high heels to the market.

I thought of wearing my brother's simple shoes to the market as he wasn't around, I wore them to the market and returned home that same day, and his shoes were alright the way it is when I wore them to the market. The next day again I wore the shoe in his absence which this time around became a problem for me.

I never knew that he had kept the shoe as a trap for me because he knew fully well that his shoe had an issue which he was just looking for whom to put the blame on. It was in the evening that I decided to wear his shoe again that I discovered the small damage in the shoe and decided not to wear it again.

As he came back and saw his shoe out of the place he kept it, he just breathed in and said "Hmmmm, I just hope it's not what I am thinking" and went inside. I didn't say anything and I acted as if I had no idea of what his trying to say.

He dropped his bag came and put his legs inside his shoe and discovered that the damage in it is beyond repair. Immediately he started raising his voice loudly, saying all manner of things, which we both entered into an argument to the point that I had to buy him another shoe.

What does the broken clock symbolize in your work?

1000612249.jpg1000612251.jpg

The broken clock is the show that symbolises problems, arguments, accusations, and anger. Had I not worn my brother's shoe all of what happened wouldn't have happened, but because I wore his shoe and discovered a little damage in it which he is aware of became a problem.

Is it a story of loss, hope, regret, or second chances?

It is a story of regret. Sometimes after we have taken action regret is what comes next which I regretted the reason why I wore his shoe in the first place. Had I known that things would turn out the way it does I wouldn't have worn his shoe I would have even worn my high-heeled shoe to the market or better still bought a simple shoe for myself which would have been safe from the insults that I received from my brother.

What lesson does your interpretation carry?

My interpretation carries the lessons of:

  • Not to touch someone without his or her permission.
  • The lesson of allowing people property to be the way it is because some are kept as a trap.
  • The lesson of not going into an argument
  • The lesson of minding my business at all times.

This boy is probably the last born. You would have just bought him a new pair of shoes. 🤣

Also, I'm imagining what the market women will say when they see a fine girl leaping around the market in high heel shoes.

They'd talk about the slay queen that visited the market with red koikoi and black sack bag. 🤣🤣🤣

That was on a lighter note. For me, the lesson I've taken is to be empathetic to others. No amount of hurt should let you raise your voice on another person be it your elder or a child.

Also, there is no need of accusing anyone when it's clear that a certain result wasn't clearly their fault. Like, every shoe subsequently gets that split in the middle after frequent wears and not just one single outing.

Thank you for the support.
Wishing you a blissful day.
