Nigerian DisCos Recover N196.13bn in March 2026, Leaving N50.3bn Uncollected

Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected a total of N196.13 billion from customers in March 2026, representing 79.59% of the N246.43 billion billed during the month. This means that approximately N50.3 billion in billed revenue remained uncollected, highlighting the ongoing challenges of revenue recovery and payment compliance within Nigeria’s power sector.
Among the 11 electricity distribution companies, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) recorded the highest amount billed, issuing invoices worth N45.92 billion. However, it collected only N34.81 billion, leaving a significant gap between billing and actual revenue received. In contrast, Ikeja Electric emerged as the top revenue collector, recovering N40.30 billion out of N41.82 billion billed, demonstrating one of the strongest collection efficiencies among the DisCos. Eko Electricity Distribution Company also performed strongly, collecting N33.89 billion from a billing of N38.65 billion.
