Luxury Without Burdens

Some people spend money freely because they only carry responsibility for themselves. They can buy expensive clothes, travel often, eat at fancy places, throw parties and enjoy life without thinking twice. But there are others whose money already has a destination before it even arrives. They have school fees to pay, younger siblings to support, parents to help, rent to settle, or children to raise.

Just like my sister who has no responsibility but lavished her salary just to throw a birthday. She bought a new luxury hair, a pair of shoe and a new dress just for photo shoot and this happens every year.

The painful part comes when comparisons begin.

A person without heavy responsibilities may look successful because they can display luxury openly. Meanwhile, the person carrying responsibilities may appear to be “behind” in life, not because they are lazy, but because their priorities are different. One person spends to satisfy wants, while the other sacrifices to fulfill needs.

Life becomes unfair when society compares both people as if they started from the same position. The truth is that responsibility changes the meaning of money. To one person, money is for enjoyment. To another, money is survival, peace, and the wellbeing of loved ones.

Extravagant spending is easier when nobody depends on you. But maturity is seen in understanding that not everyone can move at the same speed financially. Some people delay their dreams so others around them can live better. That sacrifice may not look glamorous on social media, but it carries dignity and strength.

In life never measure your life using someone else’s reality. A person buying luxury items may not be struggling with the same burdens you carry daily. Comparing yourself to them can make you feel inadequate unfairly.

Sometimes the richest act is not spending freely, but being able to provide, support, and still keep going despite the weight of responsibility.
