Again on my 'favorite' contest
Yesterday I came across a video interview with our Eurovision representative, in which she talks about her anxiety. No, not like my anxiety, which I sometimes mention, caused by the difficult life and circumstances that have come my way in recent years.
Then I came across another video of her talking about the same topic, and that's when it dawned on me. Or at least somewhat.
It was quite illogical to me that Bulgaria would strive to send a heterosexual representative this year. Even at the so-called competition in which the selection of this representative was simulated, there were no such openly g&y candidates. Although one such candidate appeared, was invited, was prevented from representing the country on these exact dates, and he was very disappointed because of these circumstances and said something like: "I am very suitable for a representative because I am 'colorful' enough", whatever they try to put into the meaning of this word.
But anyway, the representative was chosen, rather put in place after a simulated vote, a young woman, obviously heterosexual, who only then was found out that she couldn't sing, or at least couldn't sing live. A pretty, quite attractive girl, with quite a few media and show appearances, who... suffers from anxiety and probably other psychological disorders.
I've already told you once that one year, I can't remember which one, whether it was last year or the year before, I watched the compilation of songs of the representatives of all the countries at Eurovision and I was struck by their mental instability. Then, watching this, I instinctively thought - I wonder how much longer these people will live. I'm not kidding.
And now here is our representative. A beautiful young woman, mentally unbalanced.
I think that the image of this girl in Bulgaria is generally different. Her image was even that she could sing. But at the audition to "select" a representative, it turned out that she couldn't.
Now someone had written under one of her posts about the contest: "Who pays you to talk these vague nonsense?"
And I would say again that this competition continues to be a freak show in my opinion. Will it show people with an indeterminate gender, people who can't sing but are made to do so, or people with mental health issues - is that what should be shown, what should be emphasized?
And when people say this is a singing competition... Really? If this is a singing competition, then I am the Queen of England.
I've always been worried about the lack of talent on the Bulgarian music scene in general. Since the era of mass stealing of entire songs from the Western world, with all the music and lyrics, or just changed lyrics, with which a number of such famous singers and groups in the past won awards at local singing competitions, now a few really good talents are emerging. Only a few, very few. And of course, they are not the most successful.
But now we are talking about Eurovision.
The song we will be represented with was written by an international team with a Greek composer. There is no way Bulgarian incompetence can be seen here. But when I look at the songs of representatives of other countries, I wonder, firstly, who wrote their songs, and secondly, how is it possible that someone could be more untalented than a Bulgarian artist? Because the song written for Bulgaria, although quite simple, not to say vulgar and incomprehensible, seems like a flower, compared to the songs of other countries.
So, if this is a song contest that showcases the best of the European space, culture and talent, then Europe is really bad in many ways.
And on the other hand, thank God this isn't a song contest. 😂 Because things would look really bad then.
And, oh, I'm not saying that all the performers are bad. There are some pretty good ones among them. But they won't win, will they? I'm betting on two who are almost certain possible winners (for political reasons).

Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you. |
Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.

For as long as I can remember, strange things have been happening at the Eurovision Song Contest. It’s nowhere near what it used to be: unknown singers performing a new song in their own language. Of course, there were gay singers back then too, but the focus wasn’t on that – it was on talent!
It soon became apparent that every country votes for a neighbouring country, even though they tear each other to shreds in everyday life. From day one, it was unclear to me how the voting worked and who was voting. I also believe that Israel is not part of Europe, so out with it! I assume this is now the case, given that the State of Israel is no longer excluded, although they are starting afresh in murderous Argentina (those weeping mothers of Argentina have long since been forgotten).
When the choice of a country’s representative, its singing talent, its calling card, depends on sexual orientation or mental state, I also wonder where exactly music fits in? Perhaps the choice will soon be determined by sexual performance or who can act best? Perhaps karaoke is an option too? Everyone sings the same song and the best performance wins. Could we also send grandad, a child or the dog? Or let’s give folk dancing a go.
In any case, winning the Song Contest is nothing to be proud of. None of those winners ever become famous, unlike Abba back in the day.
As for new talent and new music: I suspect it’s the same in every country, but we only need one person to send, and that should be possible. You probably do need someone to put you in the spotlight. Perhaps it would be a better idea to have a look around at: X’s Got Talent, because there’s more talent there than people think (the same goes for the pubs).
Here, it’s often the same people writing lyrics for different artists; perhaps it would be a good idea to ban that too. Let’s send poets who sing, read and rap
How is being part of the great EU?
