Central Shaheed Minar, Basurhat

I have come with a review of a Shaheed Minar. This is the central Shaheed Minar of Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali district. It is located on the south side of the Basurhat Municipality office in Basurhat Bazar. There is a lot of open space in front of this Shaheed Minar. There is an open field and there is a boundary wall around it and two big gates. There is a security box or guard box on one side. This Shaheed Minar has been very well planned, due to which its beauty has been highlighted very extraordinarily.

Being the central Shaheed Minar of the upazila, various programs are organized here on different days. Also, especially on February 21st, when this Shaheed Minar was built as a memorial to the International Mother Language Day, flowers are offered here in memory of the language martyrs. This Shaheed Minar was established on 25th December 2000. Apart from this Shaheed Minar, this Shaheed Minar can be seen in various government institutions and schools and colleges of the upazila, but this is known as the central Shaheed Minar of the entire upazila and it has been built mainly as a central one. Therefore, it is more planned than other Shaheed Minars and has been protected by surrounding it with a boundary wall on all sides.

We take this place, i.e. this Shaheed Minar, as a symbol of our mother tongue and as the pride and heritage of our language, very seriously. This Shaheed Minar is located in the middle of Basurhat Municipality in Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali District and is the central and largest Shaheed Minar in this Upazila.

2_. ¿Cómo se conserva el sitio hoy en día? ¿Sigue cumpliendo su función original?

There is a boundary wall around this Shaheed Minar and there are two main gates for entry. There is also a security box here. This Shaheed Minar still serves its main purpose; for example, every year on February 21st, this Shaheed Minar is opened and flowers are offered here in memory of the language martyrs. Also, various cultural programs are organized here on various state and national days. This institution is very well preserved here and since it is in front of the Municipality Building and in the main city, it is maintained very carefully.

3_.¿Qué sientes al visitar este lugar que representa el orgullo de tu gente?

This Shaheed Minar is not just a brick and stone pillar. It is the symbol of our language martyrs and the history and tradition of this symbol is the reason why everyone comes to visit the place and remembers our language martyrs. Their sacrifice for the country and the language is actually felt here. That is why, apart from various days, many patriotic and language-loving people come here and like to spend some time here.

4_. Si pudieras describir la energía del lugar en tres palabras, ¿cuáles serían?

If I want to describe the power of this Shaheed Minar in three languages, then first I will say - existence. Existence is the existence of our language and the Bengali language that we have, Bengali nationalism. And secondly I will say - resistance. Resistance against injustice, exploitation, oppression. There is a power of resistance in the pillar, symbol of this Shaheed Minar. And thirdly if I say, then I will say - consciousness. This Shaheed Minar is an inseparable part of our consciousness. For example, it is our Bengali language, our Bengali culture and our self-sacrifice, from which generations after generations have been getting inspiration. So these were my words about the three strengths.

The large structure in the middle of the Shaheed Minar is basically made or meant as a symbol of our mother. And the four small structures on the back on both sides are basically meant as the four children of a mother, that is, the martyrs who have kept the mother, that is, the country, or the language of the country. Also, the red circle behind the Shaheed Minar represents the sun of independence, the red sun, the new sun, and the blood of the martyrs is also highlighted as a symbol of the victory achieved by that blood. Also, stairs are placed in front of the Shaheed Minar, made with stairs, this means that our martyrs never bow their heads. They have sustained the struggle and the height. This staircase is mainly used or used as a staircase to guide that height and the struggle.

Every year on February 21st, flowers are offered at every Shaheed Minar after 12 midnight. People from all walks of life participate here. In fact, through this participation, the respect for the language, the respect for the martyrs is highlighted. This is basically the International Mother Language Day for Bangladesh.
