Exactly, unlike Bitcoin users which are dropping BTC because of the volatility. With Steem there is such an application in place that users aren't bothered so much by the volatility. Of course, Steem isn't called the "Gold of Crypto" either lol.

I am a big supporter of blockchains that provide real usage value, other than through the crypo itself. The engine should be the blockchain, not the crypto.

However, I don't easily dismiss bitcoin for two, maybe three reasons:

  1. it is a pioneer in this field
  2. it has the largest adoption world-wide, by people not really interested in the particulars of the blockchains and
  3. it has a well-chosen name (easier to market to the masses)
