RIght now the whales sell upvote bots and make money from everyone who wants to be on the trending page. If we switch to resteems then they will sell resteem bots. I don't see that as any different from what we have now. Insted of selling upvotes they would be selling resteems, but people wouldn't be as impressed with resteems because that isn't where the money is. Maybe it could be a combination of the two. I do think resteems should count.
Well the trick is that each resteem counts as one not like votes with varying weights with whales having a larger say because of their steem power. Even if they sell resteems, the resteem would still be counted as one same as others. How they can have a larger say is through their larger follower count which can make a post viral once a whale resteems it, but it would still be less impactful than the current weighted voting system to get into trending page.
The whales will still have larger say in allocating rewards, that does not change.
