I think you are correct in that the price of Steem changing impacts our earnings, at least in USD value. We are still earning Steem and SBD and when the price goes back up the value in terms of USD will climb as well.
So we need to keep earning Steem and SBD and hopefully we can see an increase value in our overall holdings as time passes.

I was not paying attention (I just woke up) and somehow my upvote was set at 100%, therefore I changed it. Every so often this happens...I try to keep my SP upvoting power at a level that everyone gets upvoted, otherwise my percentage level drops fast.
But I think you understand. I wish I could upvote 100% for everyone. Would not that be nice? ;o)

Yes your explanation was good. The concept in general gets confusing because our upvotes show as USD, yet in 7 days we get SBD and Steem. I see the value in this, but it can be misleading. With any cryptocurrency no matter the value in USD (or any local currency) we have the same amount of the crypto.
I am hoping as we move into July and August we will see prices start to rise.
I also hope so hopefully everything will get back on track
