the first time i heard of a particle accelerator is in the movie series "the flash" but somehow, Barry Allen enters the accelerator.
how related is the particle accelerator to time travel?
The accelerator helps physicists to study the condition that the universe was during its early stage. So I think some may attribute it to some sort of "time travel" back to the future.
