Christoph picked up the torn boot and shook his head.

“This isn’t what people’s shoes should be like,” he thought,
examining the torn-off sole, which had once been clumsily nailed to the boot
with rusty shoemaker’s nails.

He had worked at a shoe factory for many years and had always dreamed
that someday people would invent comfortable athletic shoes that could be
worn every day.

“What will they be called?” Christoph wondered. “Surely not ‘boots’
or ‘shoes’! I need to come up with a name for the shoes of my dreams.”

He finished repairing the shoe, locked up the workshop, and headed home.

His wife Paulina and their two sons, Adi and Rudolf, greeted him.

The family sat down to dinner, and at the table, Christoph shared with his wife
and sons his dream of comfortable athletic shoes that could be
worn every day, even when not playing sports.

“I just can’t imagine what to call such shoes.
After all, just ‘shoes’ or ‘boots’ doesn’t sound quite right,” concluded the father
of the family, glancing at his sons.

Adi winked at his older brother and turned to his father.

“I know what we’ll call these shoes!” he said. “‘SNEAKERS’!”

Rudolf smiled and added:

“We’ll make the best athletic shoes and bring fame to our
family all over the world.”

Adi and Rudolf walked over to their father and mother and hugged them.

“You’ll be proud of us!” said Adi. “And our country will be
proud of us!”
