hamare mohallon ki sadkon aur chaurahon par subah hote hi ek jani-pahchani awaaz gunjane lagti hai—"taaze kele le lo, meethe kele le lo!" yah awaaz us kela vikreta ki hoti hai, jo hath-thele par kelon ke darjan bhar guchchhe sajae dhup-chhanv ki parvah kiye bina apni rozi-roti ki talash mein nikal padta hai. wah hamare samaj ki aarthik vyavastha ki wah jamini kadi hai, jo behad kam munafe mein hamen sehatmand fal uplabdh karata hai. ek kela vikreta ka jeevan anushasan aur kade parishram ki misaal hai. uska din suraj ugne se bahut pahle, subah char baje hi shuru ho jata hai. wah sabse pehle mandi jata hai, jahan wah thok bhav mein kacche ya pake hue kelon ki kharidari karta hai. kelon ko chunte samay use bahut savdhani bartani padti hai, kyonki zyada pake kele jaldi kharab ho sakte hain aur kacche kelon ko koi kharidega nahin. iske bad, wah unhen apne thele par kareene se sajata hai aur phir shuru hota hai galiyon-mohallon mein ghumne ka lamba aur thaka dene wala silsila. chahe kadkadati thand ho, chilchilati dhoop ho ya musladhar barish, kela vikreta ko har mausam mein kaam karna padta hai. uske paas koi pakki dukan ya air-conditioner nahin hota. thele ko meelon paidal dhakelna sharirik roop se bahut thaka dene wala hota hai. iske alava, uski kamai bahut anishchit hoti hai. kabhi-kabhi log ek-ek rupaye ke liye usse molabhav (Bargaining) karte han, jisse uska munafa aur kam ho jata hai. kela ek aisa fal hai jo jaldi kharab ho jata hai, isliye agar kisi din bikri kam hui, to use bhari nuksan uthana padta hai. samaj ke liye unka mahatv tamam kathinaiyon ke bavjud, yah vikreta hamesha ek muskurate hue chehre ke saath grahakon ka swagat karta hai. wah amir-garib sabhi ko ek samaan bhav se fal bechta hai. kela ek aisa fal hai jise 'garibon ka seb' bhi kaha jata hai, kyonki yah sasta aur paushtik hota hai. is paushtik fal ko har ghar tak sulabh banane ka shrey isi thele wale ko jata hai.

As morning breaks, a familiar call echoes through the streets and intersections of our neighborhoods: "Get fresh bananas, get sweet bananas!" This voice belongs to the banana vendor who, with a dozen bunches of bananas neatly arranged on his handcart, sets out in search of a livelihood, undeterred by the sun or shade. He represents a vital, grassroots link in our economic system, providing us with healthy fruit for a very modest profit.

The life of a banana vendor is a testament to discipline and hard work. His day begins long before sunrise, at four in the morning. He first visits the wholesale market to purchase raw or ripe bananas in bulk. He must exercise great care when selecting the fruit; overripe bananas spoil quickly, while no one will buy unripe ones. After this, he arranges them neatly on his cart, marking the start of a long and exhausting routine of traversing the streets and neighborhoods.

Whether facing biting cold, scorching heat, or torrential rain, the banana vendor must work in every kind of weather. He has no permanent shop or air-conditioned space. Pushing the cart for miles on foot is physically grueling.

Moreover, his earnings are highly uncertain. Sometimes, people haggle over even a single rupee, further reducing his already slim profit margin. Since bananas are perishable, a day of low sales results in a significant financial loss.
His Importance to Society

Despite all these hardships, the vendor always welcomes customers with a smile. He sells fruit to everyone—rich and poor alike—at the same price. The banana is often called the "poor man's apple" because it is both affordable and nutritious. The credit for making this nutritious fruit accessible to every household goes to this very street vendor.
