When I was a child I believed that the name of the municipality of the capital, Old Havana, was not as symbolic as it was literal. I thought it was called that because it really looked old, and not because it was the oldest part of the city, the place where it was founded and the expansion of the first town began several centuries ago. But now that I know, I am still convinced that the name continues to be more real than symbolic. And that is the feeling I have most of the time when I walk through these streets, it is not just an old city, but a space that carries the weight of the years marked like folds in every corner, in its narrow streets and in its buildings that have seen better times.
