The Striking Silhouettes of a Golden Dusk

There is one particular kind of beauty which can only become apparent when the sun starts to hide behind the horizon. The lively and colorful hues of daylight start turning into dramatic shapes of darkness making the world a canvas of chiaroscuro.

On the other hand, during my last visit, I noticed such a phenomenon in an industrial and urban landscape. The contrast of geometric shapes of buildings and their soft hues of colors in a sunset scene made me take a picture of this amazing view.

In the first image, there is a glowing orb of the sun as a heart in a sky painted with hues of orange and golden color. Through the sky, there is a straight line made by a single condensation trail in the sky which seems like a giant brush stroke on a canvas filled with warm tones of the sun.

Below this luminous sky, the world appears to be dark black silhouettes. The geometric figures of factories, poles of lights and roofs of neighboring buildings stand out dramatically against the light.

This kind of beauty appears at the time when the sun starts going down, leaving its bright colors. Colors of the day fade away giving place to dramatic silhouettes making the ordinary world picturesque. I witnessed how this process occurs in an industrial and urban environment some time ago and had to record the beauty I saw.

In the second picture the dusk takes a different color. Now we see the distant range of mountains and a sleepy town starting their day in the light of evening. Heavy dark storm clouds fill the whole sky but on the horizon line one can observe a bright strip of yellow-orange sunlight.

It seems to be a river of fire lying between two pieces of the sky – one dark and gloomy and another one – bright and sunny. Tiny gold lights of street lamps and other artificial lights appear below – it seems as if there is a bridge of light connecting the dark earth and sky
