The US Navy is replacing $38,000 hand grip system to control periscope with $20 Xbox controllers. Previously it would take hours to learn to use the system but with an Xbox controller, it is down to minutes.

Hack what, an Xbox controller tens of miles in the ocean perhaps 10000 feet down with no form of network connection. I think it is pretty safe.
