The Diary Game: 12th July, 2026. My Birthday Was Filled With So Much Love
Hello, my beautiful friends! I hope you're all doing well? Today's diary is extra special because today, July 12th, is my birthday! Honestly, I don't even know where to begin because my heart is still so full of gratitude and excitement. This is one birthday I'll remember for a very long time.
The celebration actually started before the day officially began. Just after midnight, my phone started buzzing with birthday wishes. I thought it would be the usual messages, but then I received the most beautiful surprise video. As I played the video, I saw one familiar face after another. My younger sister, my brothers, my close friends, and so many people who mean so much to me. Each person took a moment to wish me a happy birthday, and with every clip I watched, I became even more emotional.
I couldn't stop smiling. I kept replaying the video over and over again because it was just too beautiful to watch only once. I was so excited that I completely forgot it was already late at night. I was literally screaming with joy. Thankfully, my partner was there to calm me down because I was simply overwhelmed by all the love. At that moment, sleep became impossible. I kept reading the birthday messages that were already coming in and watching the surprise video repeatedly. My heart was so full that I couldn't even close my eyes for long.
By around 5 a.m., I finally made my birthday post on Facebook before sharing it on my WhatsApp status as well. Once people started seeing my posts, my phone practically refused to rest. Messages kept coming in. Calls came one after another. Every time I tried to close my eyes and get a little sleep, my phone would ring again. Of course, I couldn't ignore the calls because each one came from someone who genuinely wanted to celebrate me.
As the day went on, I realized something that touched me deeply. I am truly loved. Seeing my pictures being shared, reading the beautiful birthday messages, receiving thoughtful prayers, and hearing heartfelt wishes from different people reminded me that God has surrounded me with amazing people. Even as I'm writing this, I still haven't replied to some messages because they just kept coming in throughout the day. That alone made my birthday incredibly special.
Before today, I had already gone to the market to buy ingredients for stew because I wanted to prepare something nice for myself. My original plan was to celebrate in a bigger way, but a project came up and I had to use the money I had set aside for my birthday. I prepared a delicious pot of stew with fish, beef then enjoyed it with white rice alongside cabbage and hollandia yoghurt. Honestly, it was so satisfying, and I was happy I still got to enjoy a special birthday meal.
Towards the evening, I had plans to step outside for a while, but the rain started falling heavily. At first, I felt a little disappointed because my plans changed, but then I simply stayed indoors and continued enjoying the beautiful messages, calls, prayers, and love that kept pouring in.
Looking back on today, I can confidently say that this wasn't just another birthday. Today reminded me that love cannot always be measured by expensive gifts or big celebrations. Sometimes, it's found in sincere prayers, thoughtful messages, unexpected surprises, genuine phone calls, and the people who choose to celebrate you wholeheartedly. My heart is filled with gratitude. I thank God for the gift of life, for adding another beautiful year to my journey, and for blessing me with such wonderful family, friends, and loved ones. I truly do not take any of it for granted.
