Bible thought: The heart of fools is in their mouth, but the mouth of the wise is in their heart. Ben Sira 21:26

The master of wisdom Ben Sira, wrote in his famous sapiential book a series of teachings to compare the difference between sensible men and fools. And the wise man did this with a fundamental intention: to teach that wisdom and folly are mindsets, ways of thinking and perceiving reality. There are no disorders or mental illnesses, but rather, ways of relating with the world. There are people who are uplifting, progressive, expansive, and benevolent, and others who are chaotic, destructive, and unjust, and the world works on this difference.
And the famous problem of evil in the Bible is a consequence of the fact that there are few sensible men and too many fools. It can be stated with complete certainty that the history of humanity, with its wars, is not a product of wisdom but of human folly.
And so, Ben Sira, in his book, reflected on wisdom and folly and wrote an interesting thought to meditate: "The heart of fools is in their mouth, but the mouth of the wise is in their heart" Ben Sira 21:26. With this, Ben Sira taught that fools, in the vast majority of cases, speak first and think later, while sensible people think first and speak later. And this is primarily because in fools, passions, and ego prevail. And this is what makes disputes ignite easily in fools, because for this type of person, the important thing is not to solve problems, but to get their way, that is, to carry out their own selfish plans. And something should not be forgotten, self-love is, in short, very treacherous, especially when faced with provocations from others. In contrast, conflict among upright men is low or nonexistent because, through empathy, the other person matters. Furthermore, for sensible men, science is important for living; that is why they think first and then speak.
It is from all this that a spiritual truth taught in the sapiential literature is deduced: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 13:20. The sapiential teachings of the Bible constantly call for reflection and meditation. Wise people are role models and the people to seek out if a person wants to be happy, and fools are the people to avoid if a person wants to avoid problems. There is no greater truth than this in the sapiential literature of the Bible.
