My watch app prototypes from 2014 - Tizen OS & Conference

in #tizen8 years ago (edited)

Recently I talked about Tizen OS in a post about DATA Streamr coin. @throwawayaccount mentioned Tizen OS sucks, I won't disagree with him but I will share my experience with the platform.

A big part of why I ever made anything for Tizen is because they had a cool conference and gave us free stuff including smart watches :-)

That and the apps were all HTML/JS based, part of why the platform was lacking, but made creating quick prototypes easier.

I'll share some photos of me at the conference here as well as the prototypes I made.

Prototypes

We all tried to make some interesting prototypes for the Tizen app store. I made mine in the weeks following the conference. Published them and even made a bit of money but lost interest in the whole smart watch thing not long after.

Running Bird

A watch app where the speed of your movement would increase your virtual pet's progress through an animated map.

Puzzle Alarm

A basic alarm clock with a catch. The only way to turn it off is by solving a puzzle.

Basic Speedometer

Just a speedometer to tell you how fast you're moving via watch while biking or running.
