On our trip to the Amazon this year, we also visited the Tobogán de la Selva, a place well-known in Venezuela. This was the first time our friends who were with us had visited the site, and the truth is that this place—like all the rivers and pools in the Amazon—changes a lot depending on the season. However, there’s something specific that happens on this river that can throw your plans off a bit.

First of all, in previous posts where I’ve told you about this beautiful place, I mentioned that to get there you have to climb a huge ramp. This requires a lot of physical effort because it’s hot, humid, and the path is steep. That’s why, when you finally reach the entrance, you feel really tired and just want to jump into the water right away.

In this case, my friends aren’t used to traveling to places with such a humid climate that quickly wears you out, so it really took a toll on them. I feel that, at least upon arrival, they weren’t able to truly enjoy seeing this beautiful spot for the first time. As for me, although it’s not something I do often (more like once a year), I have some experience and arrived excited because it’s always great to come back.
