Aerial views of the floating city
Venice is known as the floating city and famous for the canals and gandolas. Navigating through the boats is one fun thing here. There are some internal roads but the main ones don't. One evening while I was there, I visited the bell tower and the view from the top is truly captivating.
Venice is built on 118 small islands, the city traded pavement for canals and cars for gondolas. Every step is a bridge. Every turn is water. Homes rise straight from the lagoon, their foundations held up by millions of wooden poles driven into mud centuries ago. And somehow, they’re still standing. It's fascinating how the city is standing on wooden pillars.
It's said that Venice has been sinking and yet surviving for over 1,500 years.
