RE: Tree Tuesday and a Happy Birthday Salute to Old-Guy-Photos!

in #treetuesday8 years ago

A grand tribute of another year of fun for our OG, and so well deserved. [My hand is up as I write, which makes it DARN hard on a keyboard ( : ] I'm sure this year's will be better. I thoroughly enjoyed your arbol-based retrospective in his honor. Where DID that wiggly tree come from? And as long as we're asking ??'s, is that your house on the shore? "Gorgeous place for shore." (Couldn't resist).

As for black walnuts, they ARE a mess. You may be able to 'scuff' them on the ground with your boot, vibram soles help, to get the husk off, that's what we did with our English walnuts, before the tree up and died. I THINK the black walnut husk comes off easy too. But getting the shell open...? All I've seen is putting them in a vice and squeezing them. A LOT of work. Wear glasses, as the shells are sharp and fly around like a nutty bat on steroids. But SO good to eat, once you get them open. They ARE a bear to deal with, compared to English nuts.

Thanks for putting out such a great tribute, with so many nice poems and photos for our old guy. He is the best, isn't he? As are you. I'm sitting on the edge of my second hand computer chair, waiting for the rest of the PnD show, ...or DnP, whichever has been settled on. Unlike a walnut, those things really crack me up.

It is a grand tribute for a fun guy! I want you to know that my auto-correct took my fun guy word and changed it to fungi. Really nice, autocorrect! I am always telling the old guy that autocorrect hates me.

Isn't that Whitney tree a hoot? I actually spotted it when I was visiting with the island of St Kitts. I did a double take and turned my car around to take a picture of it. Okay to be correct oh, it was a rental car oh, but it was mine for the moment. You were the one with the trees oh, so perhaps you can tell me if this is something that would happen in nature, where do you think somebody trained it this way? I ask because it was not on the main road or in a place that it would be easily spotted but rather in the middle of nowhere. So I had to assume that it was nature, but I don't think that this is normal in nature.

Black walnuts have always given me a problem and the only time I use them is if I'm going to eat them or bake with them. I swear to God I have 17 giant trees of them and without taking my vehicle and running over them oh, I haven't found an easy way choose get the yummy goodness out of the shell. I agree English walnuts or so much easier. Perhaps trying with the Vice might be a little bit easier.

Emma's fun doing a tribute to him and I know he loves poems pictures of tree so it was an obvious choice, plus the fact that it was tree Tuesday! He is the best, truly!

We all need to be getting on the old guy about the show because he is in charge of all the editing and I have already given him the okee dokee to put on whatever he wants. I am glad that you get some pleasure out of them, because Kim and I certainly have a hoot and a holler putting those together! He will just have to press on him a little harder. Don't tell him I said so. He already thinks I'm a big enough pain in the you-know-what. Thanks for stopping by and thank you for helping me give him a good shout out!
