Here’s how we changed the Full Metal Ox series in the past month.
Since we heard about the demise of MTV, which we loved when it was indeed, Music Television, we decided merge the idea of being a recording artist, with the original MTV model. We play a snippet, or a fragment of our Street-Studio Philosophy Rantcasts, as previews, (or 45s) to the Long Play episodes that we release every five days.
This improvement is by “popular” demand. For cosmic reasons we keep our Daily Ox Drops at 11 minutes, 11 seconds. Plus we think it’s cool. This isn’t enough time to fit everything in. So, we are doing Long Plays.
We fit this into our radio station fantasy and roll the way music was marketed back in the day. You would hear a single from a recording artist on the radio, and if you liked it you would go to the record store and buy it. Maybe a second or third single would come out and you’d invest in the entire album. There might be eight or ten tracks on the LP.
The fragments in the dailies represent partial ideas, philosophies, observations and sometimes, strategies for dealing with this realm. If you like the single, you can listen to the full length rantcast in a later episode, which we release every five days.
The only reason your humble producer is releasing daily episodes is because of our commitment to do so. For as long as possible. So far, including today, 1,883 days in a row. Not counting the specials or the new format LPs.
The Mind Cafe metaphor.
In the beginning, and to this day we use “Mind Cafe” to describe our series. Once upon a time, Full Metal Ox episodes were much longer than 11:11. Today, imagine the Mind Cafe as having expanded to sell records. Y’know, like Starbucks did with Putumayo, and a few other “specialty” record labels. Plus we have a DJ that comes in and spins for a few hours days & evenings.
Not everyone wants to watch these videos daily, or in order. So now, you can check in anytime, see what we’re babbling about, and if you’re curious, look through the catalog on any channel, (they are all Noxsoma, in some way), find the “album title” (For example “Dharma Connections” will be available tomorrow.) And absorb the entire “album.”
We take requests.
At the end of the video fragments, you’ll see. For example.
“Surviving the Sink”
album: THE SINKING SHIP
YFMO 77.7 AM

A title, in quotes. Then a line that starts with “album” and then a title in All Caps. That’s the name of the album. If you are interested in hearing more on this “philosophy” drop the Album Title in the comments and which ever is most popular will be the next LP we release. The LPs are released on a five-day schedule and we work ahead, so it might be ten days or so before we get to your request. We intend to get to all of them. Your requests help me prioritize and please the audience. The final two lines are, “Upsilon-FMO,” the call letters to our station and maybe the frequency, 77.7 AM. And the Substack address. Substack is our new headquarters on the web. We were unable to direct Noxsoma.com to Substack. I am not that savvy on that kinda tech-stuff. (I think it was Substack and not yours truly.)
And that’s that. Future articles will smooth out the explanation, address your questions and comments, and all that funky stuff.
