Only april but its been a good year in 64 so far

in #tyrnannoght28 days ago (edited)

kicking off the post of catching up 2 with a game everyone from back then who had one HAS TO know ...

and ofcourse , from psytronik (on itch or google you can find their page or own site)

strange how 40+ years later a distributor (what do you call that? producer ?) specializes in C64 software and seems to not make a loss and even some beermoney on it (50+ little boys must have spending cash sometimes, they didnt all have our luck did they)

I certainly need to check this on occasion tho getting to sit down for games in a four hour day thats getting shorter with more sleep instead of less happens ... more than getting on steemit but not too often anymore sadly.

Its been great so far, this one is a BLAST, pretty certain this will be the incrowd GOTY already unless someone comes up with a superbanger the likes of which the machine has never seen, even so, nostalgia probably wins the title AND

it looks like it honours the original enough to be a super-blast of a game anyway

earlier this month a one-man army came up with Crystians lost Crystals

https://ntpr.itch.io/crystian-and-lost-crystals

personally i had an immediate spelunker vibe, which is an arcade converted game the kid used to play LOTS on the old machine that never died (xept that first one died after x years too young, probably a brick of death, but i didnt know that back then)

this is a game you certainly NEED to play if you're a 64person, and if you dont know the map of the piano the amount of moving bits on screen will blow your knockers off im sure (tho actually given the hardware, it just means the guy has a map of the piano and knows how to read it - if the spectrum and such had that things might have been different ... BUT THEY DIDNT, its like the ST having no copper or paula and a shifter that can handle like 60% of the screen per frame under standard circumstances compared to the amiga ... not comparable)

and theres more

here's the lot so far :

https://www.lemon64.com/games/list.php?list_year=2026&list_year_max=2026

we personally would recommend among others the games by donut80 (find on itch or your usual channels), windigo (same) and i dont think Haplo has one bad title to their name so far although some of those are conversions from existing games its still amazing to see, almost all monochrome too

GREAT !

(picture by PAL of Offence if its stated correctly)

but i think the era is ending, A.I. didnt just kill millions of jobs

its killing braincells as we speak

that kid on the couch ?

you know, we had a golden age of music in the 90s and early 2000s, not talking about the pop but you can count queen and stuff if you like (although that was more 80s) im talking about jazz-fusions-everything and everything else fusions everything , Ninja Tunes, Warp, the lot, supermetal bands ... name it

we had the era of great coders

and now its all fucked - but you're free to believe what you want , im sure that moving train wont feel a thing wether you do or dont

--- we went into the bunkers beyond the rim with Elric years ago when we said we would, after all, as a stranded alien from a nearby galaxy in a distant future we have seen it and

human behaviour being a constant over 100000+ years id say its quite probably that they wont change in the next 5-20 years

SO

get a move on and write some more c64 and ST games !!!

(man steemit is lagging again, are they planning to take it down or something ?)

oh we have a rare appearance of the guy who prefers not to compromise but instead opened up an arcade because youtube pays shyte and he wants his vids to be "of expected quality" ?

there's a reason why he has one and a half million there i think

straight from Texas ... not infected by the "america will rule the waves again" themesong theyve been singing (yet?)

ah man, did four vids and two threads and its that time again - but you're free to believe what you want , im sure that moving train wont feel a thing wether you do or dont

19:35 ... cave-ready but im gonna watch murrays vid first

and MAN, do i want an additron now for my breadboard computer which i still havent started

i got a kid .. now several years back .. from a guy in california as, since the kid, we always wanted to do some electronics next to the hello worlding and power cartridging

in salems lot where computers is niet weirken that wasnt readily available, ACTUALLY, I.T. as such wasnt actually available at all in school while its ABSOLUTELY the one thing this one should have been able to follow

maybe i woudlnt have quit out of disgust and boredom then , who knows

i still dont regret that, it feels like i didnt learn SHIT until the day i quit school

school ??? its for normal people , to learn how to behave as a non-hyena in a pack , thats what its for, im sure many people need it

i think the kid and the boy would have been better without, and just someone to "hand me that book I WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT THAT" would have sufficed

"haters" as 1990 s americans said woudl say you couldnt have and all i can say is, im sure i could, actually i think what i should have done is quit hi school at 15 and try to get into some weird college that would have me under an admittance test, my brain worked a lot better than today those days it did

and i think we're STILL above average (only half of us ... the other half of you sorry cant have it but its not always a blessing) albeit out of category due to all the mental damage, born borderline autism, ACQUIRED personality disorder

I STICK TO MY DIAGNOSIS DOC, it fits everything i can remember since the kid

So i have this breadboard computer kit from this guy in california, Ben Eater (dunno if he's still on youtube doing it, a bit of a teknomage that man) because i thought like wow well they put me in this hole of kryptonite, stuff like home assistant (tho i didnt have it then) is shapeing past its hello world, ITS A GOOD TIME to try some BUT

the thing arrived and all but before i actually got to it, they used more of maslows neanderhammer to HIT THAT BRUISE UNTIL IT GOES AWAY ...

which didnt really help and so

at one point i ended up getting a soldering station (which i also wanted since long time) from a polish vendor, GOOD STUFF, because my mister fpga kept depressing the power button and i could get a new one (there was SOME money still then) OR get a soldering station for less than half and try to fix it

it was just the button , i already analyzed that much so i thought the soldering machine was the better option and YES INDEED

i got the button off and sicne i didnt have a replacement (money was already short but there was SOME) you dont get buttons for mister fpga's in the cornerstore

there actually isnt a cornerstore anymore and last year they closed the minimarket too

other than a baker and a butcher, i dont think theres anything here anymore

and then after some poking i just bridged the connection and use a plug with a powerbutton now instead (which is what most mFPGAs worked like before the modcase community got started anyway) which is like, my biggest soldering adventure so far

assembling the two boards back with those little wirethings that fit but are loose between was a bit of a hassle but luckily i didnt blow anything with the wires touching the wrong connections and i have a fully working box again since then

BUT THAT BREADBOARD, i obviously felt like i could when i ordered it but now im just not confident that my lack of focus wont have me blowing a component and ... its not just the 800 % santa tax from us and china to europe (and vice versa maybe?) its the no money at all as well , if i botch it i cant get a new one so its been sitting there, boxed

until my brain tells me again : YOU can DO this, WHY WOULDNT YOU BE ABLE TO DO THIS ? like it used to when i ordered it

this additron would sit nicely on that setup i think ...

very steampunkish in a way too ... even though its valve punk then

glasspunk ? what is it ?

its time thats what it is

i was gonna do

but i got only this far again

oo

i obviously want a few selectrons too

four of them so i can have the capabilities of a VCS with a newer model cpu ... hm

and an additron as co-processor (or FPU ?)

MAN !

that would be so dalek

so the conclusion is : australia wouldnt have to ban teens from facebook and we would STILL have soul force and impossible mission 3 ? and NO SMARTPHONES ?

i'm in ! count me in !

im up past my bedtime but the last bit raised a question so

i asked the a.i.

it said :

AI data centers are massive, rapidly evolving facilities, often exceeding 200–500 megawatts (MW) of power and scaling towards 1–5 gigawatts (GW) by 2026–2030, which is enough to power over two million homes. They occupy vast sites, sometimes over 10 sq km, and are designed for extreme densities of up to

per rack, requiring specialized liquid cooling.

Key Size Metrics for AI Data Centers
Power Capacity: While traditional, large data centers handle 10–30 MW, cutting-edge AI facilities are designed for 200–500 MW, with future campuses aiming for 1–5 gigawatts.
Physical Footprint: Individual AI buildings can exceed 1 million square feet, with entire campuses covering hundreds of acres, frequently surpassing the size of large industrial complexes or small cities.
Compute Density: Modern AI data centers, such as those operated by Meta, xAI, and OpenAI, host hundreds of thousands to over 1 million GPUs, such as the Nvidia Blackwell GPUs.
Power Density per Rack: AI clusters are drastically denser than traditional data centers, with individual racks consuming up to 130–250 kW, potentially increasing to 1 MW per rack by 2028.
Examples:
Meta Hyperion: Projected to reach 5 gigawatts and 11 sq km.
xAI Colossus: A "gigafactory" of AI, utilizing 550,000 GPUs.
OpenAI Stargate: A future project estimated to require a footprint larger than 450 soccer fields.

"ridiculous"

Sort:

yes your right how about some new original ones might be market for them after all :)))

nice metafor for how google-enhanced+ bots are used to create fake pics and vids instead of looking for patterns in genomes or cracking cuneiform and sanskrit completely
