i think america was a little bit america back then, the culture of texas-hold'em and rip'em while you can was always there for those who take it, the equivelent of IS on a bible was already there but this is totally the best magic realist slice of life game on the western front (banner saga isnt really a slice of life tale)
Someone (probably ran out of fentanyl after they killed the guy ... yea AS IF, right, i bet it hasnt gotten much less but the violence probably surged like after they did in escobar, the kali cartel and Chapo ... always the same)
took the time to montage it into a six hour movie and they did a great job there
this is certainly worth watching,
