The life of a vegetable vendor is extremely difficult and full of struggle.
A vegetable vendor’s life is incredibly arduous and full of struggle. While the entire city is asleep, he wakes up in the wee hours—around three or four in the morning—and heads to the main vegetable market. There, he bargains and selects fresh, high-quality produce. Afterward, he cleans the vegetables and arranges them neatly on his pushcart or in his basket.
His real journey begins after this. He wanders through streets and neighborhoods, calling out to potential customers. Pulling a heavy cart all day and enduring the scorching sun or biting cold has become his lot in life.

Nature and Social Connections
A vegetable vendor is often very sociable and patient by nature. He is well-acquainted with every customer's preferences—knowing exactly who wants spicy chilies and who expects a generous handful of coriander and mint for free. He interacts with even the most hard-bargaining customers with a smile. He develops a bond akin to family with the local residents; often, elderly women in the neighborhood even share their joys and sorrows with him.
Economic Status and Our Duty
Despite such grueling hard work, the economic condition of vegetable vendors is rarely strong. They live a hand-to-mouth existence, earning and spending on a daily basis. We, who readily pay fixed prices without bargaining at malls or supermarkets, often end up arguing with these small-scale vendors over a mere two or five rupees.
