Art and Writing Contest #186:The Cry of That Ignorant Child and Our Helplessness
Hello friends, how are you all? I hope you are well. Today, my heart was heavy after seeing the pictures of this competition on Steemit. Especially the famous picture by artist Juan Manuel Blas, where a mother lies dead, and her little child calls out to her. I paused for a long time after seeing the picture. I felt like writing something.
Looking at this picture, my heart feels like it is twisting. Look, the mother is lying dead on the floor. How dark it is all around. The epidemic in Buenos Aires in 1871 took the lives of so many people. But this one scene seems to outweigh all the suffering. The mother is dead, but what will happen to that little child? He doesn't know what death is. He probably thinks that the mother will open her eyes in a moment, take him in her arms. When that little hand of the child falls on the mother's still body, even the most hardened person will have tears in their eyes.
When I was looking at this picture, I kept thinking about my own childhood. We grow up in the arms of our mothers, and not a single moment goes by without them. Yet this child's world has stopped today. Will he ever know how much his mother loved him?
Two men are standing near the door. I know they are great doctors. They have caps in their hands, and they are looking down. But what is the use of being great doctors? When a mother's life cannot be saved, when a child has to become an orphan, then all knowledge seems in vain. How uncertain human life is!
The play of light and darkness that the artist has shown in this picture is absolutely real. There is a little light in front, but the back part of life is pitch black. A teenager is seen in the corner of the picture, and the fear in his eyes shows how terrible that time was. In fact, epidemics don't just kill people; they bury an entire family alive.
I can't write very neatly, but this picture taught me a very big lesson. How much we regret, how much we cry for small reasons. But think for a moment, are we in more trouble than that child? Our very existence is a great gift. Come on, let's love the people around us a little more. No one can say when someone's time will end.
Thank you very much for reading this messy writing of mine. This immortal work of the artist Blaise really moved me.
I am inviting some of my friends to participate in this contest: @cjsdns, @suboohi, and @ninapenda
Everyone, stay well, be careful. May Allah protect you.
🎉 Congratulations!
