Bible knowledge: A band of the wicked is like a bundle of fibers; it will end in a blazing fire. Ben Sira 21:9

Wisdom as a science recommends that men avoid sin because wisdom is the science of the correct knowledge for living. And Ben Sira, as a master of wisdom, did not forget this fact when writing his famous sapiential book. Although this book, dedicated to the most excellent science, does not appear in some versions of the Bible, such as the Protestant Bible, which does not consider this text as canonical; its importance for understanding, for example, the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament is fundamental.
And Ben Sira in his book taught that whoever follows the path of error, the path of evil, inevitably gets into trouble; wisdom is undoubtedly the best path, because wisdom is precision and accuracy. This is why the wise man expressed: "Flee from sin as from a snake, for it will bite you if you approach it" Ben Sira 21:2. And an example of this was in the Book of Genesis, Cain, who took the life of his brother Abel. Or like Judas Iscariot, who betrayed his master Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. In other words, the wise man wanted to explain that sin is a double-edged sword; it harms the one who receives it, but in the long run, like a boomerang, its effects return to the person who committed it.
And to better explain this problem, the wise man also taught: "A band of the wicked is like a bundle of fibers; it will end in a blazing fire" Ben Sira 21:9. In other words, just as dry tow can catch fire, those who sin tend towards sudden and unexpected destruction. And this is logical because power and money can prevent those who sin from paying the consequences, but unforeseen destructive events in the long term, due to the progressive nature of error, always end up arising; the one who sins can never know where a blow might come from. And the one who sins knows this, that's why sin has an intrinsic psychological cost, the internal suffering of the mind. He who sins cannot place his trust in anyone.
In front of this, wisdom as a form of knowledge becomes absolutely necessary, more so than gold and silver, because it is from wisdom that all other goods originate. And this is a teaching that is constantly repeated in the sapiential literature of the Bible.
