I recently have been thinking about taking the route of buying weaker glasses myself. A few years ago I went to the optician and her actual have me a weaker prescription, because, he said, my sight had settled. I kept that prescription for a while until my last visit and they upped the prescription. It took me ages to adjust and I'm having problems focusing properly now as well. I daren't go back, because the chances are they'll just up it again. The guy who dropped my prescription back and even warned against my daughter wearing hers too often our she'd speed up the degeneration, wasn't there for long.
I'm a little dubious as my daughter has tried not upgrading hers and they've become next to useless, so we relented and had her retested and them strengthened. I don't think it will hurt for me to take a step back, however.

The weaker prescription was the way to go once your eyes had 'settled'. But why then the move to increase the prescription? Which as you say, took time for you to adjust. Sounds like the eyes were straining.
The key here is taking control of the prescription and the magic spell they hold over us is making us believe they are the only ones who can accurately measure it with their fancy machines. I will teach you in the next film how we can do this at home with zero budget.
