Sabang: Finding Peace at the Western Tip of Indonesia
Hello, fellow Steemians!
Today, I want to share some stories and visuals from my recent journey to Sabang on Weh Island. It’s more than just the westernmost point of Indonesia; it is a true sanctuary for those who love the ocean and a peaceful escape.
CHASING DOLPHINS AT SUNRISE
The journey begins in the early hours of the morning, heading out to the open sea to find one of Sabang's most famous attractions: the wild dolphins. Sitting on the boat as it cuts through the waves of the Indian Ocean, there is a thrill of anticipation in the air. When the pods finally emerge, jumping and racing alongside the boat, it feels like a magical welcome to the island. It is an exhilarating start to the trip that connects you directly with the raw beauty of the ocean.
CRYSTAL CLEAR PARADISE
Upon arrival, your eyes are treated to an incredible gradient of ocean blues, from deep navy to a transparent turquoise near the shore. Looking down from the wooden decks, the water is so clear you can see the seabed perfectly. It’s the kind of view that makes you want to stop time.
GOLDEN HOUR ON THE ROCKY SHORE
Ending the day in Sabang isn't complete without witnessing the sunset. At the rocky coastline, the sky transforms into a canvas of orange and purple hues. The hills across the water turn into beautiful silhouettes, creating a deep sense of calm as the day fades away.
